Welcome to Westfield Pediatrics

Robin Scudder, APN Announces Her Retirement

Robin Scudder, APN has announced that she will be retiring from pediatric practice as of October 30, 2020 after 22 years of service at Westfield Pediatrics. Robin has touched the lives of a countless number of patients and their families with her extraordinary dedication, commitment, and desire to help children in all aspects of their lives. We will all sorely miss her presence but wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.

Please be assured that everyone at Westfield Pediatrics will do their utmost to make your child's transition of care to the other providers at Westfield Pediatrics as seamless as possible.

A personal note from Robin:

Dear Families:

After 42 years of pediatric practice, I have decided to retire. It is said that part of a good life is to have meaningful work.  I am grateful to say that my 22 years at Westfield Pediatrics have been just that. It has been a privilege to be a part of your children’s lives.  Through joys and challenges, I have watched your families grow and flourish.  You have been my teachers and have given me more than you will ever know.  My last day in the office will be Friday, October 30th.

In my next life chapter, my husband and I look forward to new adventures, enjoying the outdoors hiking, kayaking, and skiing, traveling (someday!), and visiting our children and grandchildren in Chicago.

I will miss you, and wish you all the very best.

Fondly,

Robin Scudder

FLU CLINICS 2020

We are now scheduling our Flu Clinics for the 2020 flu season. Flu Clinics will be held mostly on weekends at our Annex location. An appointment for flu vaccine is required and can be made on our Patient Portal which can be accessed through our website or by going to https://westfieldpediatrics.patientmedrecords.com/

We recommend a flu vaccine for all patients 6 months of age and older.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are requiring that all children over 2 years of age and their accompanying caregiver wear a mask when coming to the clinic. We also request that children over 2 years of age wear a short-sleeve shirt so that it will be easier and more efficient to administer the vaccine.

Please do NOT come to the flu clinic if you or your child has a fever of 100.4 or more, cough, sore throat, or diarrhea.

We will be scheduling flu shots in such a way as to try to minimize any waiting time. However, if there is any wait, you will be asked to stay outside in line with appropriate social distancing demarcated.

Please continue to check our website and Facebook page for any updates.

Stay safe!

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

To All of Our Patients:

As we are all facing very difficult and challenging times right now, we know that making sure that your children are safe and healthy is your top priority and it is our top priority as well.  We want to assure you that we remain available to care for your children throughout this critical time. Given the current situation, we have had to make some changes in how we deliver care to your children but not in the quality of the care that we deliver.  Please be aware of the following:

We still encourage all of our patients to come in for their regular Well Visits, particularly if they are due for immunizations. Well Visits are scheduled separately from sick visits. Additionally, we have implemented a new Curbside Scheduling option which would allow you to wait in your car until your exam room is ready. You will receive automated text messages instructing you when to enter the office and go directly to your exam room.  There will be no need to sit in the waiting room!

Telemedicine:  we are now offering - and recommending- telemedicine visits to all of our patients.  Telemedicine visits can be used for sick visits as well as ADHD Medication Checks, Behavioral/Mental Health consultations, newborn questions, and many more concerns.  We encourage patients to STAY HOME if at all possible.  If your child is sick, please call us and we can schedule a Telemedicine visit.  The doctor will call you and discuss your child's illness and treat accordingly.  We are able to have you send us pictures, as well, if they are helpful in diagnosing your child.

If it is felt that your child needs to be seen for a sick visit rather than a Telemediciine visit, we will either have you wait in your car until we are ready to see you or we will come out to you and perform the visit in your car.

We are constantly adapting our practice to the unusual circumstances that we are all faced with. Westfield Pediatrics remains available to you at all times.  Please call us if you have any concerns regarding your child.  We are here to help!

Stay safe and stay well!

UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE,  WALK-IN HOURS FROM 8-9 AM ARE SUSPENDED.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Our doctors and staff take great pride in providing quality healthcare to children and their families from birth through adolescence. As a traditional, small private pediatric practice, we place a high value on getting to know each of our patients and their families throughout the years. It is incredibly rewarding to see our newborns as they head off to college!

At Westfield Pediatrics, we offer a complete array of pediatric services including prenatal visits for expecting parents, well-child care visits including developmental screening assessments and immunizations, and urgent care for acute and chronic illnesses.

We also believe that high quality pediatric care requires you to be able to reach one of our doctors at all times. Knowing that you can always reach someone who knows your child can be very comforting when your child is ill. As such, we have a Walk-In Hour on Mondays-Fridays from 8 am – 9 am for urgent visits.  We also provide Same-day Sick Visit appointments every day- including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. After hours phone calls are always taken by one of our doctors or nurses.

At Westfield Pediatrics, we utilize an Electronic Medical Record system and we provide a Patient Portal which allows parents convenient access to common services such as requesting routine appointments, referrals, and prescription refills.

Westfield Pediatrics has been serving the healthcare needs of children for over 50 years. We welcome you to our practice!
